1) Since the sitemap is changing from time to time it would be nice, if the creation of AI Redirects is not a one time thing. I would recommend creating Redirect based on the sitemap should be regularly e.g. every month. Especially when searsons change the sitemap usually changes too.
2) updating existing URLs (active/inactive)
When the crawler identifies an URL is inactive, it only displays the information in the panel but no automatic deactivation is happening (possible errors, runtime issue, etc.).
But I would recommend to deactivate an invalid URL when a certain threshold is given e.g. 3 crawls/3 days i a row/ etc. (or maybe a setting/configuration for each tenant/customer as a possible variable to configure in days/hours, etc.)
